Biden and Capito End Infrastructure Talks Without Deal

The Biden administration is shifting away from infrastructure talks with Republican lawmakers to talks with a bipartisan group, according to a White House official.

  • Official says President Biden asked Republicans whether they could come up significantly on new investments for an infrastructure plan and to be specific about pay-fors, but the group was not willing to do that
  • Biden believes GOP Senator Shelley Moore Capito operated in good faith throughout their discussions, the official says
