Bill to End Sales Tax on Tampons Passes Michigan Legislature

A bill that would make Michigan the 24th state to exempt tampons and other feminine hygiene products from sales tax received final passage Tuesday.

The measure (H.B. 5267) would cost Michigan around $6 million annually. If signed by the governor, Michigan would join a growing list of states that exempt tampons, panty liners, menstrual cups, sanitary napkins and other feminine products from taxes that national advocacy group Period Equity is pushing to make tax free.
