Coronavirus Spurs IRS to Restrict Employee Travel, Union Says

The IRS suspended all non-essential travel for 30 days unless it is “mission critical” as part of its response to the new coronavirus outbreak, according to National Treasury Employees Union President Tony Reardon.

Reardon said in a Monday statement that he met with IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig earlier in the day to discuss how the union and the IRS can work together to take proactive precautions and keep employees informed. The NTEU represents more than 150,000 federal employees in 33 agencies, including the IRS.
