Cuomo Casts Doubts on Interest in Taxing New York’s Wealthy

New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo on Wednesday cast doubts on a push by fellow Democrats to increase taxes on the wealthy to offset a projected two-year $30 billion state deficit.

New York is counting on the federal aid package before Congress for the needed revenue, Cuomo told reporters in a press call. “To the extent that we do not receive $30 billion over two years, we would have to cut 20% from our main funding entities—schools, local governments, hospitals,” he said.
