Georgia Enacts Law Revising Plate Rules, Authorizes DOR Permit Issuance

The Georgia Governor signed a law amending Title 40 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, to revise penalties for license plate violations, establish requirements for dealer license plates, and authorize the Department of Revenue (DOR) to issue annual permits for operating unregistered motor vehicles within limited parameters. The includes also subjects the State Board of Registration of Used Motor Vehicle Dealers to the Georgia Administrative Procedure Act, and establishes new requirements for licensure as a used motor vehicle dealer, including bonding requirements and DOR investigation authority.
