Google Pays $330 Million to Settle Australian Tax Dispute

U.S. e-commerce giant paid an additional A$481.5 million ($330 million) on top of previous tax payments to settle its tax affairs in Australia, the Australian Taxation Office said in a statement Wednesday.

  • Google joins Microsoft, Apple and Facebook in settling with ATO, the tax office said in its statement
  • Under the Multinational Anti-Avoidance Law, Australian-sourced sales by the digital companies will now be returned to Australia’s tax base, ATO said
