HILL TAX BRIEFING: Bipartisan Senators Form Infrastructure Offer

A bipartisan group of senators said yesterday they reached agreement on a $1.2 trillion, eight-year infrastructure plan that includes no tax hikes.

The group intends to pitch the deal to President Joe Biden. It is backed by Sens. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) and Joe Manchin (D-Va.). The narrow margins for victory in the Senate will likely require the administration to listen closely to the group’s ideas. Manchin’s vote is essential for any of Biden’s sweeping infrastructure plans to become law in a 50-50 Senate.
