Ways and Means Democrats are sticking behind their leader’s strategy for requesting the president’s tax returns, but a few may start to break ranks if the pace doesn’t pick up soon.
Committee Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-Mass.) advocates patience and “making sure we get it right,” he told reporters Jan. 30.
“I have confidence in Richie Neal as a person, as a chairman, that he will keep to his commitment on requesting the president’s taxes,” said Ways and Means member Bill Pascrell Jr. (D-N.J.), who has been vocal about the issue.
