IRS Aims to Stabilize Return Processing by 2022 Tax Season

The IRS is on target to achieve its normal processing pace for tax returns by the end of 2021, the agency announced Tuesday.

The Internal Revenue Service has been working hard to rebound from the pandemic and expects to catch up to its typical processing time before the 2022 tax filing season, Commissioner Charles Rettig said in an update.
