IRS Speeding Through Tax-Exemption Requests for Relief Groups

The IRS’s Tax Exempt and Government Entities Division is continuing to honor the expedited process for reviewing applications for nonprofit status, especially for groups offering virus relief.

The division has seen some requests for expedited handling come from newly formed Covid-19 relief charities, said Tamera Ripperda, commissioner of the Tax Exempt and Government Entities Division.
