IRS Threatening Levy Action Against Taxpayers With Mail in Limbo

The IRS is threatening property levies for past-due taxes—but some people receiving recent warnings say they have already addressed the issue and the agency is just behind on processing mail.

Tax professionals who spoke to Bloomberg Tax said their clients began seeing more of the intent to levy notices—CP504B—this week. The notices tell taxpayers that they have a balance due and must pay the amount owed or the IRS will seize certain property, such as wages or business assets, or rights to that property.
