Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear (D) released records of a confidential incentive deal in which the state became a 20% owner in a proposed aluminum mill but kept the identity of other investors secret.
The disclosure on Friday followed a multiyear legal fight with the Courier Journal. The newspaper argued the state’s unusual 2017 direct-investment into Braidy Industries Inc., a proposed $1.3 billion aluminum plant, required the state to release documents naming the project’s other investors.
