Louisiana Offers Penalty Relief to Delinquent E-Commerce Sellers

Louisiana hopes to boost compliance with rules requiring e-commerce companies to collect and remit sales taxes by allowing sellers to voluntarily pay their back taxes and avoid certain penalties.

The Louisiana Sales and Use Tax Commission for Remote Sellers endorsed draft regulations for a voluntary disclosure program under which delinquent taxpayers and sellers that never registered with the state could come forward and pay their past liabilities with interest.
