Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) has vetoed tax incentive bills that would have given Meijer Inc. breaks the company says would put it on level tax playing field with online grocery giants such as Kroger.

The bills (SB 1149, 1150, and 1153) would have given Meijer sales, use, and property tax breaks for automated order processing equipment the firm wants to place in its existing Delta Township distribution center.
