N.Y. Guidance Gives Urgency to N.J. Telecommuting Taxes Bill

New guidance from New York has increased the urgency of a New Jersey attempt to block its neighbor from collecting income taxes from its residents who work in New York but are telecommuting because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The guidance, which came through an FAQ on the website of the New York Department of Taxation and Finance, shows how “aggressively” New York is trying to tax New Jersey residents, Sen. Steven Oroho (R, NJ) told Bloomberg Tax Friday.
