New Mexico Lawmakers Vote to Expand Tax Relief Eligibility

New Mexico would expand tax relief programs for low-income residents under a measure the state Legislature passed late Friday, sending it to Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D).

  • The measure (H.B. 291) would increase the income limit for the state’s Low-Income Comprehensive Tax Rebate from $22,000 to $36,000 a year. The maximum rebate would increase from $450 to $730, according to a fiscal analysis.
