NYC Hotel Tax Revenue Saw Strong 2Q Recovery, Comptroller Says

New York City’s hotel industry is starting to come back from the dark days of the pandemic when business and leisure travel ceased.

  • The city’s hotel occupancy tax revenue, which collapsed at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, more than quadrupled to $140 million, from the second quarters of 2020 and 2021, according to a report published on Monday by New York City Comptroller Brad Lander, who helps oversee about $240 billion in pension funds.
