Future Tax Court Remote Mediation, Subpoena Hearing Possible (1)

The Tax Court may allow for remote mediation proceedings and document subpoena hearings after the Covid-19 pandemic ends, according to judges on the court.

Tax Court Special Trial Judge Peter Panuthos, speaking Thursday on a panel about alternative dispute resolution, said the technology for remote proceedings has greatly improved from years ago and that remote mediation could cut costs for the parties involved. Alternative dispute resolution involves resolving legal disputes outside of the courtroom.
