Republicans Mulling 70% Wage Replacement for Unemployed

Senate Republicans are considering whether to cut the unemployment insurance subsidy to 70% of the $600pw addition to state-run unemployment programs provided by the last round of economic aid, or pushing for 70-75% of prior wage replacement, a smaller benefit.

  • Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell will make the final call on what ends up in the proposal, which could be made public as soon as Wednesday
