Rival EU Plan to Tax Big Tech Risks Hindering OECD Digital Talks

The EU’s plans for taxing digital businesses are raising concerns that the new measure could interfere with the OECD-led effort to rewrite global tax rules.

The European Commission is currently forging ahead with plans to tax tech companies—a plan years in the making, in response to public and political concerns that tech giants like Facebook Inc. and Amazon.com Inc. don’t pay enough tax in the countries where they have users or customers.
