The uncertain scope of sustainability reporting requirements under consideration by regulators around the globe worries U.S. business leaders, a U.S. Chamber of Commerce official said Wednesday.
Reporting on metrics related to ESG—environmental, social, and governance issues—covers a wide swath of topics in the U.S., including workforce management as well as impacts related to climate change. But globally the term tends to focus so far just on climate reporting, Tom Quaadman, executive vice president of the Chamber’s Center on Capital Markets Competitiveness, said at an American Accounting Association conference.
