SCOTUS Rejects Cannabis Companies’ Tax Fights on Late Petition

The U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear a pair of challenges from marijuana companies disputing the IRS’s denial of business tax breaks.

Northern California Small Business Assistants Inc. (NCSBA), which has interests in California marijuana dispensaries, and Organic Cannabis Foundation LLC, a marijuana dispensary operator that’s wholly owned by NCSBA, both sought the high court’s review of a Ninth Circuit ruling that their petition to an IRS deficiency notice wasn’t timely filed. The Supreme Court denied both petitions Monday.
