The Slovak parliament approves a package of measures worth 1.2 billion euros to help families cope with high inflation.
- Every working family should receive 200 euros per child per month from the state, an increase from about 70 euros now
- The anti-inflation package consists of increasing child allowance, a higher tax bonus and new vouchers for children’s activities
- The proposal has triggered tensions within the four-party ruling coalition as one member, the fiscally-conservative Freedom and Solidarity party, opposes the measures as too expensive and not anti-inflationary
- The bill has to be signed by President
