State of Wayfair: Arizona Resources, South Carolina Guidance

Arizona is boosting resources to help businesses navigate remote seller tax laws post-Wayfair.

The Arizona Department of Revenue announced Aug. 28 a new team of specialists focused on e-commerce. Staff will answer questions from remote sellers and marketplace facilitators about registration and licensing requirements that start Oct. 1.

Out-of-state businesses will start paying Arizona’s transaction privilege tax if their sales in the state exceed $200,000 in 2019 for remote sellers or $100,000 for marketplace facilitators. Those are slightly different economic thresholds than those at the center of the U.S. Supreme Court’s June 2018 South Dakota v. Wayfair decision....
