State of Wayfair: Michigan Governor Signs Sales Tax Bills

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) signed a bundle of internet sales tax bills (House Bills 4540, 4541, 4542, 4543) Dec. 12, codifying the state’s sales tax on remote sellers and mandating collection and remittance of sales tax from online marketplaces for goods sold through their websites.

The state had already been collecting a 6% sales tax from remote sellers with either 200 transactions or $100,000 in sales since last fall.
