Steep fines await those who flout official legal limits on imports of cheap gasoline from Poland and fail to declare them for excise taxes, Czech and Slovak tax authorities warned.
The warning follows reports of Czech and Slovak bargain hunters flocking to Poland to fill all manner of bulky receptacles—including metal drums and plastic water tanks—with fuel that sells for roughly 25% less in Poland – thanks to recent tax cuts to contain inflation.
