U.S. Ends Digital-Tax Probe on Brazil, EU, Indonesia, Czech Rep.

Given that Brazil, EU, Czech Republic and Indonesia haven’t instituted digital taxes, the U.S. Trade Representative has ended its investigations on these countries and the bloc.

  • “If any of these jurisdictions proceeds to adopt or implement a DST, USTR may initiate new investigations,” it says in an emailed statement
  • The U.S. is moving forward with public comment on “possible trade actions to proceed procedural options” over digital services taxes by Austria, India, Italy, Spain, Turkey, and the U.K.,
  • The U.S. has a statutory one-year time period for completing the investigations
