Whistleblower, Lawyer Should Be Sanctioned for Mishandling Proof

An attorney should pay thousands of dollars in attorneys’ fees and the whistleblower lawsuit he’s litigating should be dismissed, according to a federal magistrate judge, who found that the plaintiff had deleted important text messages on Signal.

Magistrate Judge Heather K. McShain of the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois recommended the court grant Chicago Transit Authority’s motion for sanctions against Christopher Pable, a computer programmer who sued the agency after resigning in lieu of termination in 2018, and his lawyer Timothy Duffy.
