President Joe Biden’s plans to boost offshore wind farms are facing headwinds.
The Biden administration wants to build 30 gigawatts of offshore wind by 2030, and multiple big projects are planned with some starting turbine installation as soon as later this year.
But in the latest criticism from Congress, four Republican lawmakers say the federal approval process for the farms planned off the East Coast has been hurried and sloppy. There are also multiple complaints covering foreign ownership of wind developers, a rash of whale deaths, and fears of higher power bills.
