Lockheed Martin Denies Navy Quick Win in Software Rights Dispute

The US Navy failed to show entitlement to government purpose rights over Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Co. software to support the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Air System, a contract appeals board said in a decision released Thursday.

Under defense regulations, government purpose rights would give the Navy a five-year period to use or disclose the software within the government without restriction, and would let the Navy disclose the software outside the government, but only for government purposes, the board said.
