Transportation Agency Contracting Missteps Risk Taxpayer Money

The Department of Transportation fails to adequately report data about contractors, which could result in government money going to undeserving companies, according to its inspector general.

The department often didn’t register contracts within 30 days of making award or complete contractor assessments within 120 days of a performance period, as mandated by the Contractor Performance Assessment Reporting System and the Federal Acquisition Register, the report from the DOT Office of Inspector General found this week.
