Autonomy Was No Theranos But Still a Fraud, UK Judge Rules (1)

One of Britain’s biggest software companies was no Theranos Inc. but will forever be associated with fraud, a UK judge said in his final ruling on the sale of Autonomy Corp. to Hewlett Packard.

Almost four months after outlining findings of dishonesty against Autonomy’s founder Mike Lynch, Judge Robert Hildyard published a full judgment coming in at more than 500,000 words. While Autonomy did have “world-beating” technology, unlike the US blood-testing startup, it was dressed up to be much larger and more successful than it really was, Hildyard said.
