Rule on Chinese Audit Firms Set for Vote by U.S. Audit Board

The U.S. audit regulator is expected to adopt a rule next week that would spell out which audit firms are beyond the reach of its inspection and enforcement staff.

The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board said Thursday that it would hold an open meeting on Sept. 22 to consider the rule, which would help to implement a 2020 law that would bar companies based in China and Hong Kong from trading on U.S. exchanges if the U.S. regulator is unable to review the audits of their financial statements.
