SEC Boosts Enforcement, Still Below Obama Levels (1)

The SEC brought more cases and got more money through its enforcement activity in fiscal year 2018 than it did the previous year, but the tallies fell short of fiscal 2016 levels during the Obama administration, according to an agency report released Nov. 2.

The Securities and Exchange Commission filed 821 enforcement actions during its fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, the agency’s statistics showed. The amount is an 8.9 percent increase from the 754 new cases, follow-on administrative proceedings, and delinquent filings it had in fiscal 2017.
