SEC Cautions Global Regulators Tempted by Hot U.S. SPAC Market

A top SEC official warned global securities regulators to be careful about embracing SPACs, the red-hot vehicle allowed in the U.S. for taking companies public.

The Securities and Exchange Commission is likely to issue more guidance in the next few weeks related to the entities—special purpose acquisition companies—adding to other recent statements on accounting pitfalls and reporting requirements, John Coates, acting director of the Division of Corporation Finance, said Wednesday.
