SEC Weighs Another Batch of Edits to Auditor Independence Rules

The Securities and Exchange Commission is considering whether additional changes are needed to its auditor independence rules.

SEC Chief Accountant Sagar Teotia said his staff is reviewing recent comment letters to determine whether to recommend another round of rulemaking to the commission.

  • “We are actively working on those recommendations,” Teotia said in a Sept. 9 address to the AICPA’s banking conference outside Washington.
