US Audit Board Advisors at Odds Over Vetting ESG Standards (1)

The largest group of advisors to the US audit regulator gave conflicting opinions Wednesday on whether the agency should introduce standards for vetting environmental and climate data that companies share with investors.

“I believe you should try to own some of this space. I think that’s an important role for the PCAOB. I urge you to focus on it because I think It belongs to you,” said John White, a securities lawyer with Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP and a member of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board’s standards and emerging issues advisory group.
