US airlines and tourism groups are warning of widespread economic damage if the Trump administration follows through on threats to disrupt operations at one of the nation’s busiest airports as part of an escalating dispute over immigration enforcement in New Jersey.

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin has been escalating threats to halt immigration and customs processing at airports in so-called sanctuary cities, using the prospect of flight cancellations and diversions as leverage to force cooperation with the administration’s immigration policies.
