Barclays Wins Judgment on Former Executive’s Retaliation Claims

Barclays Capital Inc. on Friday shook off claims that it terminated an executive in retaliation for engaging in protected whistleblowing under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.

Brian La Belle failed to show that he reported conduct that he reasonably believed violated federal law relating to fraud against shareholders, Judge J. Paul Oetken of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York ruled, granting summary judgment for Barclays.
