Airlines flying out of California must negotiate with cabin crew staff and their unions over how to provide legally required meal and rest breaks in flight under a new law signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) Thursday.
The measure (SB 41) ends years of legal battles over airlines’ compliance with California’s meal-and-rest break requirements. Airlines are now compliant with state labor law when cabin crew members have meal or rest language in their collective bargaining agreement.
