Hartford Gets Reversal of ‘Related Claims’ Drug Test Ruling (1)

A Hartford Insurance Group Inc. unit convinced a federal appeals court to overturn a lower court decision holding it had to provide coverage for a lawsuit against a drug testing company that allegedly had poor quality control leading to false positives.

The 2022 lawsuit against Avertest LLC is related to an earlier claim that a Loews Corp. insurer is obligated to cover under its policy, the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit said in an unpublished opinion Tuesday.
