Mexico Seeks Dispute-Panel Ruling on U.S. Car-Origin Complaint

Mexico is seeking a dispute-settlement panel set up under a North America trade agreement in order to resolve differences it has with the U.S. over how to interpret rules governing the origin of vehicle parts.

The Mexican economy ministry made the request under the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement Thursday, it said in a statement on its website. Bloomberg first reported the nation’s intention to file the request on Dec. 23. August consultations on the issue yielded no results.
