Sugar Producer Challenges U.S.-Mexico Deal

CSC Sugar LLC has filed a court case challenging a U.S.-Mexico deal that prevented U.S. duties on Mexican sugar (CSC Sugar LLC v. United States, Ct. Int’l Trade, No. 17-00215, filed 8/10/17).

The two countries signed a deal in June that set limits on the amount of refined sugar Mexico could ship to the U.S. and set minimum prices to prevent sugar imports from undercutting domestic prices, and stopped the U.S. from imposing antidumping or countervailing duties.
