Top US Scissors Maker Won’t Sever Ties With China: Supply Lines

Acme United, a Connecticut-based maker of scissors and first-aid supplies, sounds like a good example of a company that’s adapting rather than retreating from a global economy churned up by technological, geopolitical and climate change.

The company’s new Chinese-made printing press arrived recently at a Florida facility. At 85 feet (26 meters) long, it required four shipping containers to transport. It cost about $800,000 — less than half the price of a comparable machine from the US or Europe.
