Judge Alan Albright has selected a Texas litigator with experience in patent lawsuits to be the new magistrate judge in the Waco division of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas.
Derek Gilliland was selected to fill a magistrate judge’s role in Waco, Albright’s office confirmed. Gilliland is a partner at Sorey & Gilliland LLP in Texas and oversees the firm’s intellectual property litigation practice.
“I am definitely humbled, flattered, and very very excited,” Gilliland said in an email.
