Ohio Takes Steps Away From Sole ABA Law School Accreditation (3)

A proposal to “create opportunities” for graduates of schools not accredited by the American Bar Association to sit for the Ohio bar exam was put forth Thursday by the state Supreme Court.

The Republican-controlled, seven-justice court also instructed its administrative director to work to establish an accreditation process done by the state and to work with Ohio’s nine law schools and one in northern Kentucky to submit a single variance request to the ABA for relief from certain requirements. The public can submit comments on the proposed rule changes until July 10.
