CBS Ends Contract for ‘60 Minutes’ Correspondent After Clash

CBS News has not renewed the contract of 60 Minutes correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi months after the network’s editor-in-chief, Bari Weiss, made a last-minute decision to pull one of Alfonsi’s segments before it aired.

The story focused on Venezuelans who had been sent from the US to CECOT, a maximum security prison in El Salvador with harsh conditions. Weiss yanked the segment in December, even though it had already been publicly promoted, citing the need for more reporting. It aired a few weeks later with minimal changes.
