Alabama state tax deadlines were extended for victims of recent severe storms in the state, the state revenue department said Jan. 10.
The extensions mirror the IRS extensions for federal taxes, meaning return and payment deadlines starting Oct. 6, 2021, and before Feb. 28, 2022, were extended to Feb. 28, 2022, for individuals and businesses in the affected area, the department said in a news release.
Taxpayers for some tax types, including withholding, may submit Form PWR, Request for Waiver of Penalty, to benefit, the department said.
The affected area is Jefferson and Shelby counties.
