Converse Retail Workers’ $1.8 Million Wage Deal Gets Judge’s OK

A $1.87 million settlement between Converse Inc. and about 2,700 store employees in California who sued over off-the-clock security checks received preliminary approval from a federal judge.

The class members will each receive approximately $10 in exchange for releasing their claims. If the class size exceeds 2,700 by more than 10%, then Converse will increase the total settlement fund by a proportionate percentage.

Any settlement funds left after the class payout and other necessary deductions will go to Legal Aid At Work, the designated beneficiary, according to the approval order entered Wednesday by Judge Nathanael M. Cousins of the U.S....
