Croatia Permits Personal Income Tax Exemption for Young Employees

Croatia is to allow young employees to be exempt from personal income taxation on annual income of up to 360,000 Croatian kuna (U.S. $53,333.33), under an act approved Nov. 29 by the country’s legislature.

The act (Croatian), which amends Croatia’s Income Tax Law and takes effect Jan. 1, 2020, was approved in a vote of 76 to 19, the Croatian Parliament said in the act’s voting record (Croatian). The act is an attempt to stop young Croats from leaving the country in search of jobs abroad.
